Maserati has announced its commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for an additional four years, starting from Season 13 in 2026/27 when the fourth-generation cars, dubbed Gen4, line up on the grid.

The House of Trident’s continuing commitment to the top electric racing series has offered an avenue to test and develop new technologies, and applying these to the Folgore, its electric road-car lineup.

Maserati has been a part of the championship since last year (Season 9), when the Gen3 cars made its first outing.

For Seasons 11 and 12, we will see interim cars in the Gen3 Evo. These updated third-generation cars will have temporary all-wheel drive that can be engaged for qualifying, duels, race starts, and Attack Mode.

From the following season, Gen4 will have permanent all-wheel drive for the race as well as an increase in power.

“We are extremely proud to continue our commitment to a prestigious and innovative platform as Formula E,” Maserati CEO Santo Ficili shares. “For this brand, the bond between the track and the road is unbreakable, and the evolution of the single-seaters shows how many possibilities for development electric mobility holds. We will continue to draw major developments from the races in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to transfer them into the Folgore, our 100% electric range.”

Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds says further: “We are thrilled to confirm Maserati’s continued commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship by registering for the Gen4 era, alongside Stellantis Motorsport. They have both been a valuable part of our championship, and have demonstrated remarkable performance on track, while driving forward electric-vehicle technology that benefits everyday road users.”

Along with two pole positions and six podiums, Maserati MSG Racing so far has two wins in Formula E.
