We take a deeper peek into the soon-to-be-launched Suzuki Fronx

Despite its unconfirmed specs, we can deduce from what was displayed at ‘Suzuki Matsuri’

Last week, we announced that the Suzuki Fronx crossover would launch around the third quarter of 2025. Before that period approaches, Suzuki Philippines placed a preview unit front and center at the “Suzuki Matsuri” last weekend, and we noticed some key details that might reach the local market.

For starters, the Fronx presented here is the Hybrid model. Aside from the obvious badges, it featured the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and 12V lithium-ion battery as the Ertiga and the XL7 Hybrid, with a similar output of 103hp.

Another interesting tidbit was that this unit is sourced from PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor. That means the Philippine-spec Fronx might be sourced from Indonesia instead of India, unlike the Japanese offering.

Its dashboard is equipped with a nine-inch infotainment system with capacitive touch buttons and a digital climate control with physical buttons. A visit to Suzuki Indonesia’s website suggested that this display is exclusive to the mild-hybrid trims GX and SGX.

However, a significant quirk of the Fronx Hybrid was the inclusion of a front sensor on the grille and a camera in front of the mirror. These small details suggest a potential introduction of Suzuki Safety Support in the country, which includes lane-keep assist, dual-sensor brake support, and active cruise control.

The Fronx in the top Hybrid SGX trim is priced in Indonesia at an estimated equivalent of P1.1 million. While that might sound a little pricey for a subcompact crossover, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see if a sole combustion engine option or its advanced safety suite will arrive in the Philippine market.
