On July 2, Volvo Philippines organized an extravagant event titled “Alive: Bringing the World of Volvo to Life” as a reminder that it is not going anywhere in the local market. Aside from showcasing its past endeavors in safety and iconic models, the Swedish brand under Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) unveiled its refreshed crossovers in an electrified world.

The compact XC60 and midsize XC90 are now in the country, wearing a new diagonal grille while retaining the iconic Thor’s Hammer headlights. Both SUVs are sold only as plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, denoted as T8 Ultra and sharing a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a rear-mounted electric motor.
The XC60 PHEV has a total output of 449hp and an electric range of 80km, while the XC90 PHEV offers slightly more at 456hp but has a reduced battery-only range of 77km.

Both vehicles feature updated interiors, including a new 11.2-inch portrait infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and a choice between Harman Kardon or Bowers & Wilkins sound systems, in unique specifications. The XC60 has leather-free Nordico upholstery, while the XC90 boasts Nappa leather and genuine wooden trims.
As the pioneers of automotive safety, the refreshed Volvos are equipped with the latest suite of driving-assistance features. Standard features of the two crossovers include Pilot Assist, Blind Spot Information System, and a 360° camera.

“This moment isn’t just about unveiling a product—it’s about affirming a mindset,” said HARI president Maria Fe Perez-Agudo. “Safety isn’t just what we build. It is founded on a simple principle: to use technology to continuously improve lives, with safety and sustainability as part of our DNA.”
The XC60 T8 Ultra is priced at P4,550,000, and the XC90 T8 Ultra goes for P5,450,000. While the Swedes have had minimal presence in the past year, this launch is a sign that HARI is pushing to bring Volvo back into the limelight.
