Toyota Motor Philippines sells a lot of vehicles in different segments. But it hasn’t entered the hotly contested subcompact-crossover market. But that’s about to change with the Raize, which is essentially a badge-engineered Daihatsu Rocky.
According to our source, the vehicle will have two engine choices spread across three trim levels. The base powerplant is a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 86hp and 112Nm. This is mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. Top-of-the-line vehicles get a more powerful turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit good for a healthy 96hp and 140Nm.
The three variants will be the base E, the mid-spec G, and the top-level Turbo. It’s pretty obvious which one gets forced induction, and that version will also come with paint jobs contrasted by a black roof.
Here are the prices of the Raize:
- 1.0 Turbo CVT – P1,031,000
- 1.2 G CVT – P906,000
- 1.2 E CVT – P816,000
- 1.2 E MT – P746,000
The White Pearl color for the 1.0 Turbo CVT is a P5,000 option.
Our source said that the launch of the Raize will be sometime in February. While we don’t have any more details about the specifications, this model has the potential to become the new segment buster considering its suggested retail prices. Heck, we might even see its GR Sport version down the line.
