The new Hyundai Kona will arrive on PH shores soon

Is the vehicle in the teaser post the electric model?

There's no mistaking that color. PHOTO FROM HYUNDAI

Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) made a surprise post on its Facebook page, teasing a bright-green vehicle with the brand’s signature lightbar. While the mystery fills up the comment section, we might have an idea of what it might be.

Only time will tell if other modes of power will be part of the lineup. PHOTO FROM HYUNDAI

Based on the lights and the Neoteric Yellow paint, this might be the Kona Electric. Debuted in 2023, the compact crossover in battery-powered form is available in two variants, with a range of up to 514km for the top-spec 65.4kWh version.

The first-generation Kona was introduced to the Philippine market in 2018 to a warm reception. When HMPH took over operations, the Creta effectively took its place in the lineup, and we assumed it might not return.

We’ll have to wait for June 20 for the official introduction. Will the gasoline, the mild hybrid, or the full hybrid also be included? We’ll find out.
