Are you interested in a car for outdoor adventures with your pet? Then look no further than the Jaecoo J5 as it has just made its global debut.

The J5 is the smaller sibling of the J7. The vehicle measures 4,380mm long, 1,860mm wide, and 1,650mm high. It has a wheelbase of 2,620mm and a cargo space of 480L (expandable up to 1,180L).

Under the hood is a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine with 194hp and 290Nm, which sends power to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The J5 will be available with an all-wheel-drive variant.

What makes the Jaecoo 5 pet-friendly? The interior uses scratch- and wear-resistant materials that are easy to clean. Meanwhile, the air-conditioning system features intelligent climate control, an air filter that blocks pet hair, and an “antibacterial health device”—all to keep the cabin comfortable and sanitary for humans and animals.

Most interestingly, there is an ecosystem of Jaecoo-branded accessories such as an access ramp, a foldable pet house, a portable rinse system, a pet leash and collar, and nonslip food and water bowls. The J5 can also accommodate a roof rack with a 75kg load, and the SUV has a towing capacity of 1,250kg.

The Jaecoo J5 had its global preview during the 2024 Omoda and Jaecoo International User Summit in Wuhu, China. It will be available in foreign markets starting next year. As for the Philippines, we’ll have to wait for the local subsidiary to launch before anything else happens.
