You may have noticed spy photos of the BYD Shark—a plug-in hybrid pickup truck that rivals the Changan Hunter—taken by eagle-eyed observers on the road and posted on social media. Well, we’ve just received the official news: The vehicle is now on our shores, and it will be launched in March.

The info (and the beautiful photographs you see here) came from ACMobility. They’re calling the product the “Shark 6 DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road).”

Obviously, BYD Cars Philippines is expecting to sell a lot of units. PHOTOS FROM BYD

The best bit of the announcement is that customers may now reserve the Shark at BYD dealers.

“The arrival of the Shark 6 DMO signifies BYD’s continuing commitment to providing game-changing vehicles that are set to transform how we move,” says BYD Cars Philippines managing director Bob Palanca. “We’re excited to shake things up again in the industry. This electrified lifestyle pickup combines power, technology, performance, and sustainability, while offering adventure seekers a truly innovative and unparalleled driving experience.”
