Honda has reaffirmed its plans for its global electric future alongside a new logo, but the automaker is a lot more aggressive in China. It now plans to launch six EVs for the Chinese market by 2027 under the Yè model series.
Three of these vehicles will be making their world premiere at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2024) from April 25 to May 5.
The first two are the Yè P7 and the Yè S7 crossovers. The two both offer different takes on driving dynamics: The single-motor, rear-wheel-drive configuration is “designed to offer sporty and crisp handling,” and the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model offers “higher power and responsive handling.”
Aside from that, these will tout spacious cabins with LED ambient lighting that works with AI to enable a comfortable and relaxing driving experience.
These two are scheduled to hit the Chinese market at the end of 2024.
The more exciting of the three is the Yè GT Concept, which aims to be a flagship GT for the range. Not many details have been provided, other than a “race-driver” cockpit featuring a far-focus display for the front passenger, allowing for an immersive experience. A production model is scheduled to hit Chinese showroom floors before the end of 2025.
Do you think Honda should offer these to other markets outside of China (like, um, the Philippines)?
