The Marin Nicasio now has a step-through variant

The steel gravel bike gets updated

If you’re looking for your first gravel bike, the Marin Nicasio is a good entry point. It’s a versatile platform with a sporty yet comfy ride, and a price that doesn’t break the bank. The American bicycle brand has just updated its all-road model.

The newest change is the introduction of a step-through variant. The Marin Nicasio ST features a chromoly steel frame with a low-sweeping top tube that makes mounting and dismounting easier.

The ST features an eight-speed, 11-32T Shimano Claris, a 50/34T crank, and mechanical disc brakes. The bike comes with 700c by 36mm tires. But the frame has enough clearance for 45mm-wide tires.

The advantage of the Nicasio ST is that it allows you to have a step-through frame that is optimized for drop bars. You won’t have to modify the cockpit and alter the bike’s handling.

Meanwhile, the Nicasio+ is the off-road variant with thicker 650b by 47mm tires and a wide-range drivetrain. Whereas it previously had a nine-speed Microshift Advent, the new model now has the new nine-speed Microshift Sword Black with improved ergonomics for gravel riding.

The Nicasio 1 and the ST retail for $899 (P52,500), while the Nicasio+ goes for $1,099 (P64,180). Given that Marin has local dealers, it’s not unlikely that these new models will come to the Philippines.
