To further reduce motor-vehicle congestion in the area

Those who frequent Makati for work and leisure—or live there—will know that H.V. Dela Costa and Tordesillas are some of the worst choke points for traffic in Salcedo Village.

To remedy this, the Makati Parking Authority (MAPA) will be introducing a new one-way traffic scheme for those two streets starting September 9.

The section of H.V. Dela Costa between Geronimo and Tordesillas will now be entirely one-way, with the flow of traffic coming from Lakandula, L.P. Leviste, and San Agustin being retained.

The segment coming from Ayala Avenue (between GT Tower and RCBC Plaza) will retain its two-way configuration, but you will only be allowed to turn left onto Geronimo or right onto Valero.

To get to Geronimo, stay in the rightmost lane of H.V. Dela Costa.

For traffic headed toward Ayala Avenue or Geronimo coming from H.V. Dela Costa, you must take the two rightmost lanes.

As for Tordesillas, the flow of traffic coming from Buendia will be entirely one-way, meaning you cannot turn right onto Tordesillas coming from H.V. Dela Costa, eliminating another bottleneck. You can still also turn left onto Tordesillas coming from H.V. Dela Costa.

At the moment, it is still unclear if this will help fix the issues of congestion in the area, and it might even shift a bit more traffic onto Buendia.

Regardless, be prepared once this scheme gets implemented.
