One thing I’ve noticed about sports cars is that they attract passionate buyers. They’re customers who go for it not for the necessity but for the love of it. And usually, such individuals gravitate toward each other—united by common interests and, well, exclusive resources. Take the men and the women of Miata Club Philippines, the cool group devoted to the Mazda MX-5. Honestly, I’ve never seen a car club that is so dynamic and so tight. Just like a fraternity, but with deep pockets.

And I’ve never seen a car club that maintains such close relationship with the brand’s distributor (in this case, Mazda Philippines). Maybe it helps that the distributor’s boss (Steven Tan) is supportive. Or maybe the car is really just worth celebrating.

So here we are with the MX-5 MCP 25th Anniversary Edition. It’s not often a car club gets a special edition in honor of the gang’s existence.

Tan points out that this edition is not exclusive to MCP members (although the members get prioritized reservation until February 28, 2022). Also, this is not a limited-production run. But the production follows a limited time frame, with the first delivery to take place by September 2022 and the last delivery to be concluded by September 2023.

During the pandemic, 64 buyers purchased the MX-5 in 2020, and 93 customers happily drove home one in 2021. These guys and gals certainly know how to get through hard times. Like amusing themselves during a challenging period. One definitely could use some cheer and fellowship to get by.

Got some P2,250,000 for a fun MT sports car (or P2,300,000 for the AT)? Go for it.
