The bodykit designer wants to make a difference right now

If you’re into car modification, you likely know Atoy Customs. Trumpeting the slogan “You imagine, we create,” the bodykit fabricator has been a prominent presence at motor shows with the often-polarizing cosmetic enhancements it slaps onto show vehicles. While this aftermarket shop has focused on converting stock passenger vans into luxurious mobile lounges the past couple of years, it has also dabbled in projects that have a humanitarian side to them (like PWD-assist features, for example).

Today, we took delivery of Atoy Customs’ latest creation: a face shield for protecting oneself against virus transmission. Amid a fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic, people are doing everything they can to keep from catching SARS-CoV-2 when they go out to get essential supplies or return back to work. This includes wearing face masks and even vinyl gloves. There are others, however, who believe one can’t be too careful these days, and so they add the so-called face shield to their daily ensemble.

“People are probably wondering why a bodykit maker is now producing face shields,” Atoy Llave, the man behind his eponymous company, told VISOR. “Well, I just want to make a positive difference during an extremely difficult time.”

According to Llave, he was inspired to design his own face shield after seeing a similar product and getting underwhelmed by its quality (or lack thereof).

“I wanted to give our countrymen a high-quality but affordable face shield,” the businessman said.

Currently, Atoy Customs has been churning out 10,000 pieces of this product per day. It turns out the item is so popular that even that number isn’t enough. Come June 1, production output will be ramped up to 30,000 units a day.

The face shield costs P50 apiece, with the acetate screen available for P12 each in case the one you bought gets worn-out over time. Besides the basic white, other fun colors are available.

So, we need the red one for our brand color. PHOTO FROM ATOY CUSTOMS

Since no one really knows with absolute certainty how the coronavirus gets transmitted from person to person, we need every layer of protection we can get. A face shield surely serves this very purpose. If you’re interested and want to get some for your loved ones or employees, you may place your order by calling any of the following numbers:

You know a product is very much in demand when its manufacturer needs five telephone numbers to handle the orders. Give them a ring now.
