The updated Geely Coolray is now in PH

You can now reserve one at dealerships nationwide

It has been a while since we’ve heard any news from Geely Philippines—ever since its parent company, Geely Automobile International Corporation (GAIC), took over the distributorship from Sojitz G Auto Philippines.

But it’s big news as the automaker has announced that the updated Geely Coolray is finally at dealerships, which customers will be able to view in the metal.

On the outside, the Coolray’s shape is still retained (as it is a heavy update) but gets reworked LED headlights, a new bumper that holds a mesh-style grille with red accents (on the Sport variant), Tomahawk-style 18-inch wheels, a more aggressive rear bumper, a rear spoiler, and new LED taillights (now a lightbar).

The interior has been redesigned with a cleaner and more sporty motif inside—coming with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment that finally supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other improvements include ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a 360° camera with built-in video recording (dashcam), a wireless charger, rear air vents, a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The biggest change comes in the form of the new NordThor Power engine. This is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a power output of 171hp and 290Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission.

Combined with refinements to the updated BMA platform, expect a smoother ride and a more powerful and frugal powertrain.

Geely Philippines is currently accepting reservations for the new model. While there hasn’t been an official price revealed, some overly excited sales agents have posted the prices and the variants on Facebook. Assuming this info is accurate, the Premium will cost you P1,199,000, while the Sport goes for P1,299,000.
