Following the launch of the refreshed Seltos last year, Kia Philippines has decided to bring in the Sonet. With an indicative starting price of P770,000, it is targeted squarely at first-time car buyers, similar to the likes of the Changan CS15 and the Geely GX3 Pro.

No local specs have been given, but if what we’re getting is the same as that of India, the subcompact crossover will measure 3,995mm long, 1,790mm wide, and 1,610mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,500mm.

There are three possible powertrains: a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 82hp and 115Nm; a 1.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with 118hp and 172Nm; or a 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine with 114hp and 250Nm.

“The Kia Sonet is one of the most popular models in Kia’s global lineup, and it promises to fulfill the needs of young individuals and families with its crossover credentials and rich feature set,” said Kia Philippines COO Brian Buendia.

Whatever those credentials and features are, we’ll have to wait until the official launch in June. However, if you are interested in the Sonet (despite the lack of information), Kia dealers nationwide are already accepting preorders and reservations.
