The Toyota Camry is not exactly a volume seller in the Philippines. But at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show, we expected it to at least make an appearance inside the exhibit hall. But for some reason, it was kept outside and initially away from prying eyes. And when Mother Nature did her thing, we couldn’t even go near the car.

After the opening day, the skies cleared up and we were able see the Camry up close. Toyota had no plans of launching it at the event, so it is keeping mum about the specs. What we’re about to write here is purely based on our observations.

Under the hood appears to be the familiar A25A-FXS hybrid power unit. If overseas markets are anything to go by, owners can expect a combined output north of 220hp. Should this be the case, the latest Camry gets a healthy bump in power over its predecessor. It should also be just as efficient on fuel, if not better.

The cabin has tan leather seats. Just like before, special attention was given to rear occupants with reclining backrests, privacy shades, armrest-mounted radio controls, and the ability to adjust the front passenger seat from the back.

As for technology, the infotainment screen appears to be larger than the previous-generation model’s display. The Camry is also equipped with a digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, we’re quite sure that this car will have the latest version of Toyota Safety Sense.

We have no idea if the Camry Hybrid will ever be brought inside. But in any case, we’re just hoping that the weather throughout the weekend will be good enough so that more people can see this car and the exhibits outside the main hall.
