Despite our lack of infrastructure, carmakers have been seriously pushing for the electrification of their vehicle range. Chinese automaker Changan is just one of them, and it’s pretty obvious in its 2025 Manila International Auto Show display.
First is the brand’s recently previewed Hunter K50 pickup. The exterior design oozes machismo, thanks to an aggressive front clip and chiseled sides.

Inside, you get all the latest toys, including a 7.5-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with smartphone integration capability, an eight-speaker audio system, a wireless charging pad, and leather seats.
Powering this truck is a 2.0-liter turbocharged BlueCore range extender. Depending on the variant, it is paired with either a single (for 4×2 models) or two motors (for the 4×4). The 4×2 versions make 174hp and 320Nm of torque, while 4×4 variants make 269hp and 470Nm worth of twist.
The Hunter K50 REEV will be sold for P1,699,000 for the 4×2 Warrior, and P1,970,000 for the 4×4 Knight.

At this year’s show, Changan has also debuted its Nevo range of entry-level electrified vehicles at its booth. On display are two models it is launching, giving us a sneak peek of another interesting model that’ll arrive in the country soon.

First is the Nevo Q05 plug-in hybrid EV. Truly, the Chinese have moved on from copying designs of existing legacy brands to coming up with their own. This crossover has clean lines, peppered with chrome accents in a minimalist design theme.
Inside, you’d be treated to a premium interior and all the latest gadgets and gizmos. This includes a choice of 10.25- to 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment systems complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Sound comes from a six-speaker Pioneer system, while multicolor ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, a power tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof are just some of the standout features.
Propulsion comes from a pair of 1.5-liter BlueCore range extender and an electric motor that produces an impressive 212hp and 330Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a dedicated hybrid transmission.

Juice is stored in an 18.4kWh battery good for 125km of pure EV driving. A full tank of gas could yield up to 1,215km of range—one of the highest in the market today.
The Nevo Q05 will be available in two trims, starting from the SE which sells for P1,259,000, and the ID which sells for P1,449,000.

Then there’s the Lumin Battery EV. This cute, bug-eyed, small hatchback EV is propelled by a front-mounted motor good for 47hp and 83Nm of torque—more than enough for city commuting.
It is also cleverly designed, perfect for city dwellers who want an environmentally friendly means to commute. It also comes with a myriad of features, making it one of the best-equipped small EVs available in our market today.

Driving range for the S variant (with a 17.65kWh battery pack) is up to 190km, while the L variant (equipped with a 28.08kWh battery) can do up to 301km on a single charge.
The base Lumin S sells for P699,999, while the extended-range L is P100,000 pricier at P799,000.

But the star of the display is the Nevo A05—a plug-in hybrid compact sedan that the brand intends to bring to the Philippines soon. The good-looking car has simple yet sleek lines, exuding confidence and luxury.
Inside, you’ll be treated to a premium feel, thanks to ambient lighting and leather-clad seats. The 10.25-inch instrument display shows all pertinent vehicle information, while a six-speaker 13.2-inch infotainment system is Apple CarPlay- and Android Auto-capable. Rounding out the list of interior amenities is an electric sunroof.

This is also a safe car, as it comes with the latest in passive and active safety features, including advanced driver-assist systems.
The A05 comes with a 1.5-liter BlueCore range extender paired to an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission. This drivetrain makes a mind-blowing 212hp and 330Nm of torque, which is ridiculous for a vehicle this small.

There are three electric driving modes available for the A05: Battery Electric, Hybrid, and Range Extender Electric. This shows the flexibility of the vehicle’s powertrain.
An 18.4kWh battery can provide a full EV driving range of up to 145km, while a full tank of gas can yield up to 1,250km. Both figures are slightly better than the closest competitor.
Changan Philippines plans to sell the Nevo A05 at P1,195,000.
