One of the fastest-rising Chinese brands in the automotive industry today, GAC Motor Philippines, saw record sales in the first quarter of 2023 with 228% growth compared to the same period in 2022.

GAC credits this impressive performance to high demand for the Empow sedan, the all-new GS8 SUV, the GS4 compact SUV, and the GN6 MPV. And from the looks of their newest model unveiled at this year’s Manila International Auto Show, they may yet see even higher sales in the next few months.

An ultra-modern compact SUV, the Emkoo’s distinctively futuristic styling will turn heads while also impressing with a vast array of features. It has a borderless front fascia with a V-shaped grille and LED headlamps and DRLs, which can be programmed to light up individually or sequentially.

The profile features a fastback shape with a high tail with chrome and black trim for the mirrors and the windows, the retractable door handles, and the diagonal character line across the doors. The back has a V-shaped taillamp design and dual vertical twin exhaust pipes. Nineteen-inch wheels nicely fill up the wheel wells.

The cabin features hand-sewn leather seats with high-quality finish on the panels, a four-way adjustable steering wheel, a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, a seven-inch instrument cluster, and keyless ignition.

Other amenities include power-adjustable and ventilated front-row seats, automatic climate control with second-row vents, and configurable ambient lighting.

A 1.5-liter GDI turbo gasoline engine powers the Emkoo, rated at 177hp and 270Nm, and paired with a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission. Aside from this impressive output, GAC claims a fuel efficiency of 16.1km/L.

As expected, it also has a load of passive and active safety features ranging from dual front and side curtain airbags to ABS, traction control, hill-start hold, hill descent, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Rear parking sensors and a 360° camera system are also equipped. Its Advanced Driving Assist Systems suite includes adaptive cruise control with integrated cruise assist, traffic sign recognition, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.

Two variants of the Emkoo are offered: the entry-level GE with an introductory price of P1.413 million, and the fully equipped GL at P1.553 million.

Meanwhile, GAC has also displayed the top-of-the-line Empow GE at the car show. The sporty sedan in GE trim now gets 18-inch alloy wheels, paddle shifters, power-folding mirrors, and a full suite of advanced driving assistance systems and safety features. The Empow’s signature Matte Fighter Green color will be exclusive to the GE variant.

GAC is also offering an additional P20,000 discount on top of current promo offers for all vehicle reservations made at MIAS or in any GAC dealership nationwide from April 13 to 16. A partnership with Security Bank is also offering low-interest financing plans. All vehicles purchased also come with a five-year warranty on parts and services.
