The latest-generation Mitsubishi Triton is a vehicle that seems to suit bold colors. One good example of this is the range-topping Athlete variant with its bodywork and interior slathered in orange. But while that paint job is definitely eye-catching, not all people want a workhorse with a shouty exterior.
This is likely one reason why Mitsubishi has created the Black Edition. From the name itself, this Triton can slide under the radar with its dechromed trim and black wheels. In keeping with its monochrome theme, this variant comes in only two colors: Graphite Gray and White Diamond.
In stark contrast to the Athlete’s flashy cab, the Black Edition’s interior is a sea of black and gray accents broken up by a few brushed-aluminum pieces. But still, buyers will not get the short end of the stick as it has a comprehensive suite of electronic driver aids, and the 2.4-liter turbodiesel isn’t down on muscle with 181hp and 430Nm.
The Black Edition starts at 1,027,000 baht (P1.665 million) and sits below the Athlete in the Triton hierarchy. And just in case it isn’t obvious from the currency of the sticker price, this variant is available only in Thailand with a limited number of units to be produced.
