After a shadowy teaser, Isuzu has taken the wraps off its heavily updated Mu-X SUV.
It’s not an all-new model, but the changes made (including an all-new top-of-the-line variant) are big enough to make it stand out even compared to its newer competitors.

It has aggressive front fascia that’s said to be inspired by a fighter jet.
Regardless of variant, the car gets blacked-out LED headlights and a rear LED lightbar, alongside a large grille with two trademark Isuzu horizontal bars. Wheel sizes range from 17 inches all the way to 20 inches.

The big news is the new RS variant that has gloss-black accents, a blacked-out roof, black over-fenders, a mesh grille, and RS 20-inch wheels.

The dash is revamped with new tech—a nine-inch infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a seven-inch screen for the gauge cluster, a 360° camera, and a PM 2.5 filtration system for the dual-zone climate control.

The interior for seven can be upholstered in fabric or various leather options, and the RS is clad in all-black with green piping, RS embroidery, red accents, and red ambient lighting.

Ticking underneath the hood are the same diesel engines: the 1.9-liter turbodiesel with 150hp and 350Nm, and the 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 190hp and 450Nm (both mated to a six-speed automatic transmission).
It’s also available with either a 4×2 or a 4×4 drivetrain, and it now uses electric power steering for ease of driving in city conditions. Meanwhile, the turning radius has been reduced to 5.6m.

Finally, the ADAS system gets updated with a stereo camera. This adds pedestrian detection, rear vehicle detection with automatic braking while reversing, and anti-fogging measures to reduce the risk of failure in colder weather.
This new Mu-X is now on sale in Thailand, so it’s only a matter of time before it hits our market.
