Are you going to the 2024 Manila International Auto Show? Be prepared for the onslaught of new Chinese brands in our market. Most prominent is the United Asia Automotive Group Inc., which distributes Foton, Chery, and the recently debuted Lynk & Co.
The next addition to be shown off at MIAS is BAIC, or the Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Company. For those who have been paying attention to the industry, BAIC was previously distributed by the aptly named Bayan Automotive Industries Corporation, which quietly faded into the background.
The new distributor promises that BAIC will offer an all-SUV-and-crossover range.
The initial five models include the body-on-frame B40, B60, and B80 SUVs. There will be two unibody crossovers, the X55 and the X7.
They are all assembled at the fully robotized plants in Shunyi, Beijing, and feature all the modern creature comforts one could ask for. Higher-end models will even have advanced driver-assist systems, four-wheel-drive systems, and additional safety features. UAAGI will support each model with a five-year (or 150,000km) comprehensive warranty.
Excited? The grand launch of the brand will happen on the first day of MIAS 2024, which will be held on April 4-7.
