A digitized AUDI E5 Sportback for the digital world of China

A luxury vehicle adapted to suit the Chinese lifestyle

That is not an oversight: This car’s brand is indeed AUDI. PHOTO FROM AUDI

Audi has a new China-only brand: AUDI (all caps and without the four rings). Apparently, it’s Audi’s premium New Energy Vehicle brand. I had to read those first few lines a few times to make sure I read that right.

The AUDI (remember, all caps) E5 Sportback is the first production model, and is based on the new jointly developed Advanced Digitized Platform, creating a new collaboration model with SAIC.

This fully electric Sportback is minimalist yet dynamic, with a black-loop design at the front and the rear that’s fundamentally new. Then there’s Audi’s (uppercase and lowercase letters) signature Matrix LED headlight technology.

The cabin exudes light and space, creating a tranquil sanctum amid the hustle and bustle of China. And for all that digital jazz, you have AUDI OS and AUDI Assistant, the latter an AI-powered touch- and voice-enabled avatar.

Variants feature either rear-wheel or Quattro all-wheel drive, with power output of up to 579kW and a maximum range of 770km.

An interesting bit about the E5? “It’s adept at predicting tricycles and delivery riders, reflecting true resonance with local driving scenarios of China.”

Apparently, this car is allergic to tricycles. PHOTO FROM AUDI

Bagay din sa Pinas kung ganon.
