After four months, the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup is back. Race Weekend 2 will be held on July 11 at Clark International Speedway.
This time around, the cars will be running low-carbon biofuels for the two one-make races, the Vios OMR (one-make race) and the Tamaraw OMR. The fuels to be tested are composed of a 5% coco-biodiesel blend (B5) for diesel engines, and a 20% bioethanol blend (E20) for gasoline engines. These are pretty timely considering the recent fuel crisis.
“Motorsport has always been a test bed for progress, and this season, TGR Philippines will take a step forward by actively exploring alternative fuels in competitive racing conditions,” said Toyota Motor Philippines first vice president for vehicle sales operations Elijah Marcial. “Testing biofuels in motorsports allows us to evaluate performance, efficiency and reliability in high-demand environments, so this will be a pivotal moment for the wider adoption of low-carbon biofuels in the Philippines.”
Admission is free, so head over to Clark this weekend. For more information, you can follow the Facebook page of TGR Philippines.
