These monochromatic cars are not computer-generated images

They are the real-life creations of graphic designer Joshua Vides

The first time I saw these cars on Instagram, I thought they were computer-generated images. Either that or the videos/photos I was looking at were the product of AI technology.

Then I read one of the captions of Joshua Vides, the California-based graphic designer responsible for these hear-turning rides:

Keep hearing this is AI…it’s fake…special effects…nah fam. It’s a Porsche.

Indeed, these cars are legit. Turns out that the monochromatic colors they’re wearing are a combination of wrap and paint—a style that Vides had spent many years on trying to perfect.

The technique is called Reality to Idea, which basically transforms objects into comic strip-looking stuff.

No AI here. These are true works of art. INSTAGRAM POSTS BY JOSHUA VIDES

What you see here are the handiwork of a true artist who happens to be passionate about automobiles.

Genius. Just pure genius. INSTAGRAM POSTS BY JOSHUA VIDES

Before ultimately graduating to cars as canvases, Vides started experimenting with pop-culture items.

This is what the world would look like if it had been reduced to black-and-white simplicity. And we love it.

If you like what you see, car-themed souvenirs can be bought from this website.

What’s the next big thing in the automotive art world? INSTAGRAM POST BY JOSHUA VIDES

Just when you think you’ve seen every possible thing in the world of art, something new pops up. We won’t be surprised if we see cheap versions in the aftermarket industry. Let’s hope not.
