If you are commuting daily, you probably have been experiencing the effects of weekly increases in fuel prices. But President Bongbong Marcos has just made a surprise announcement that should benefit those living in the southern part of the metro.

BBM led the ground-breaking of the CALAX-CAVITEX Link and the Segment 3B of the CAVITEX C5 Link. He also led the inauguration of the CAVITEX C5 Link Sucat Interchange.

In a speech for the event, the president announced that the collection of toll fees on CAVITEX will be suspended for 30 days.

The president shared that the Philippine Reclamation Authority, operators of CAVITEX, has proposed a 30-day toll holiday to help mitigate the negative effects of rising fuel costs. The chief executive also believes that motorists can take advantage of new roads and expressways that could help improve their commuting experience.

But hold your horses, dear readers. The Toll Regulatory Board has yet to issue an order to implement the toll holiday.

Once in effect, this would greatly benefit motorists from Taguig, Parañaque, and Las Piñas, as well as Bacoor and Kawit in Cavite, and those from other places who frequently use the expressway.

The CAVITEX C5 Link Sucat Interchange cuts travel time to Sucat, Parañaque, to just five minutes. The CAVITEX C5 Link Expressway Segment 3B, on the other hand, is seen to reduce travel time from CAVITEX to SLEX or C5 from 40 to just 10 minutes.
