Now this is one vehicle we’d like to see on our roads. The tough-looking Jeep Gladiator pickup truck is coming to our market later in 2020. This was revealed to VISOR by Auto Nation Group’s marketing head for the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands, Vincent Josef Gavino, during a visit to our office to discuss Jeep’s plans for the year.
It should be noted that Jeep first used the Gladiator name on its Wagoneer-based J-Series pickup in 1963. The modern model that is arriving on our shores this year is based on the current-generation Wrangler.
“We want to bring it in by the third quarter, but it’s probably more realistic to expect it in October,” Gavino told us.
According to the Filipino marketing executive, the US-manufactured truck will be equipped with the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 gasoline engine (285hp and 352Nm) found in the Wrangler, and that pricing will be comparable to its SUV twin. Right now, the Wrangler Unlimited Sport powered by the above-mentioned engine is priced at P3,590,000, while the Wrangler Rubicon costs P4,390,000.
We hear that eager customers are now giving their reservation fees to ANG just to be among the first ones to get their hands on the Gladiator when it finally gets here. If you’re interested in this vehicle, contact a Jeep dealership near you (they have one in Greenhills, one in Alabang, one in Clark and one in Cebu). Have fun waiting for your unit.
