Preview photos and pricing: Suzuki S-Presso and XL7

Both models will be launched with only one variant each

The S-Presso will surely be an intriguing all-new model in the mini-hatchback segment. PHOTO FROM SOURCE

We recently told you that Suzuki Philippines would be simultaneously launching two models in March: the S-Presso mini hatchback and the XL7 subcompact crossover SUV. Well, the Japanese automaker has just shown off these two vehicles to its dealers, and revealed their prices at the same time. The company also did so by comparing the pair of models with their primary rivals in the market. According to our source, the distributor is releasing just one variant per model—a manual transmission for the S-Presso and an automatic gearbox for the XL7.

How would you rate the S-Presso versus the Wigo? PHOTOS FROM SOURCE

The S-Presso was parked beside the Toyota Wigo during the preview, clearly indicating which specific competitor it will try to beat. It will have the same 1.0-liter K10B gasoline engine as the Celerio’s, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The introductory price will reportedly be P518,000—significantly lower than the base Celerio’s P558,000.

So...the XL7 or the Xpander or the Rush? Take your pick. PHOTOS FROM SOURCE

The XL7, meanwhile, was pitted against the Mitsubishi Xpander and the Toyota Rush during the preview—at least on the parking lot. It will be powered by the same 1.5-liter KB15 gasoline engine found under the hood of the Ertiga, mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox. The price? A very competitive P1,068,000. What do you think?
