Almost a year ago, we shared news about another refresh done to Isuzu’s pickup-based SUV, the Mu-X. While riding on the same platform, it got a reworked exterior and new features making this the best Mu-X yet.

Ten months later, Isuzu Philippines finally brings this latest Mu-X to town. So, what upgrades made it, and how much will the improved SUV sell for?

The front has been completely revised with what Isuzu calls the Dynamic Grille design integrated with the refreshed bumper. Flanking this are Dynamic Blade Bi-LED headlamp clusters with built-in DRLs.

The mid LS-A and the range-topping LS-E variants get fog lamps and redesigned 18- or 20-inch Dynamic Turbine alloys, respectively. The Mu-X will be available in five finishes, including the new Eiger Gray hero color.

Finally, the refreshed SUV gets a redesigned tailgate and the “embrace line concept” taillamps that span the whole width of the vehicle. Top trims come with a Smart Power Tailgate feature.

Inside, the Mu-X now has an all-black interior, while mid and top variants receive an ambient lighting system. The leather-clad steering wheel gets new stitching, while a new seven-inch multi-information display is a welcome upgrade from the smaller ones in the outgoing model.

Mid- and top variants get new toys like a new 10-inch infotainment system that is wireless Apple CarPlay- and Android Auto-capable. It also has a 360° Around View Monitor, a digital video recorder, and a wireless charging pad.

Under the hood of the LS-A and LS-E variants is the proven and tested 4JJ3-TCX Blue 3.0-liter diesel engine that makes 187hp and 450Nm of torque. The base LS trim also carries over the 1.9-liter RZ4E motor producing 148hp and 350Nm of twist. The lone transmission option is a six-speed automatic.

All variants come with several active and passive safety features, while the top-of-the-line variants are blessed with Isuzu’s suite of advanced driver-aid systems.
