For more than two years, the sixth iteration of the Honda Civic Type R has won over the hearts of VTEC enthusiasts across the nation. However, all good things must come to an end as Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) has announced that it is winding down deliveries of the brand’s hot hatchback.
The FL5 continued to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, internally known as the K20C1, producing 315hp and 420Nm. The tried-and-tested six-speed manual was the only transmission of choice, sending its power to the front wheels as per tradition.

“We are confident that this model’s legacy will inspire us as our model range continues to evolve, especially our current and upcoming models that will always give our customers the familiar, fun-to-drive spirit of Honda,” says HCPI president Rie Miyake.
While the story of the FL5 Civic Type R ends here, that doesn’t mean the end for Honda’s performance side. The Japanese brand is prepared for “whatever iteration it may be in the future,” possibly a prelude of sorts. For now, anyone can still grab one of the remaining units for P3,870,000 while supplies last.
