BMW Philippines probably has the widest range of battery-electric vehicles under one roof. With local car sales of pure EVs soaring since early 2024 and charging infrastructure not keeping pace with demand, the distributor has finally decided to bring in its latest plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that offers the best of both worlds (internal combustion and electric).
The X5 xDrive 50e M Sport has been unveiled at Oliver’s Bistro in San Juan City (located at a Petron station on Ortigas Avenue). At the core of this luxury sport-ute is BMW’s tried-and-tested 3.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged in-line-six engine working with a plug-in electric powertrain, producing a satisfying 489hp and 700Nm of torque. An eight-speed Steptronic sport gearbox with paddle shifters engages that power to all four wheels, and propels the vehicle from zero to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

Three drive modes are made available: Sport, Hybrid, and Electric. On a full charge, the battery can deliver up to 110km of pure electric driving without burning a single drop of fuel, allowing speeds of up to 130km/h. With both systems working together, this X5 tops out at 250kph. On a full tank and a full charge, the vehicle can go well over 800km.

Along with the xDrive (all-wheel-drive) system, adaptive suspension gives the new X5 flexible capability and a more customized driving experience, be it on asphalt or light dirt trails. A switch on the center console lets the driver easily adjust ride height for varied road scenarios.
The M Sport package comes with a bunch of tasty features. Most notable are the 21-inch light alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero tires. Stopping power is provided by M Sport brakes with large rotor discs nicely filling all that space within the huge wheels.

The interior combines touches of M sportiness with the usual refinement and comfort that come with a premium BMW ride. A user-friendly Live Cockpit infotainment system—supported by BMW’s ConnectedDrive—keeps you in constant communication with the vehicle, giving an ownership experience that’s both convenient and very personalized. For added peace of mind on the go, a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) provides safety for occupants as well as pedestrians.

BMW Philippines has coined the slogan “one car, daily use,” describing the practical nature of the X5 PHEV. A vehicle that can be used daily (coding-exempt) while eliminating the issue of range anxiety. An intelligent combination of efficiency, sensibility, and power.
The X5 M Sport PHEV comes with a standard five-year/200,000km service warranty. In addition, the electric powertrain battery is guaranteed for up to eight years or 120,000km, whichever comes first.

At P6,990,000, the new X5 M Sport PHEV is ready for your perusal at your nearest BMW dealership.
