The country’s main power distribution company—Meralco, of course—has tied up with Local Government Units from cities across the metro to rid their wire systems of all unauthorized connections and unsafe configurations from overloaded posts. The operation aims to enforce public safety as the main priority, as well as aid in providing more visually pleasing urban settings.

We had the pleasure of covering the clean-up activities within Makati, particularly along the Guadalupe-Viejo area, where Meralco personnel were up and ready to disconnect severely tangled spaghetti wires. This should result in eradicating the chances of fire hazards and other electrical accidents.

The wire-clearing operations in Makati were graced by Mayor Nancy Binay, whose presence further reinforced the collaboration and importance of Meralco’s ongoing initiative. Cleaning up the wire systems will not only be beneficial and safe for the surrounding communities, but it will also provide protection for motorists passing along these affected areas, especially in extreme weather conditions such as typhoons.

Along with Meralco’s goal to maintain its integrity as a main power service provider, the Anti-Urban Blight Campaign ensures better service through delivering public safety and more aesthetically pleasing urban landscapes.
