CFMoto has just unveiled a 150cc scooter to take on popular commuters like the Yamaha NMax and the Honda PCX160, and its 150SC hits them where it hurts: the price.

With an SRP of P119,800, the Chinese scooter undercuts the ABS-equipped variants of the competition by tens of thousands of pesos. The NMax is priced at P151,900, while the PCX160 is P149,900.

The 150SC is even cheaper than the non-ABS variant of the PCX160 (P131,900), while Yamaha no longer lists the non-ABS NMax (Standard) on its website.

The 150SC uses a dual-cradle frame with plenty of plastic bodywork. Weighing in at 135kg, it features an amply padded, stepped saddle with 30L of underseat storage. The 149cc engine uses a two-valve cylinder head with peak output of 14hp at 8,250rpm and 14.2Nm at 6,500rpm.

Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and twin rear shocks with 100mm of travel at the front and 85mm at the back. Discs are fitted to both wheels with dual-channel ABS. Traction control is also standard. It rides on a 110/70-14 front tire and a 130/70-13 rear tire.

With an 8.5L fuel tank and a fuel efficiency in the 35-40km/L range, the 150SC promises a lot of range. CFMoto’s edge in electronics also shows with its five-inch curved TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, and engine start/stop technology.

There is no smart key for its price point, though. Seat height of 765mm is average for the class. The four color choices are Solar Silver, Gem Black, Storm Gray, and Space Silver.

With pricing closer to a Honda Click while featuring a design aesthetic and crucial details mostly seen in the NMax/PCX160 bracket, CFMoto may just have the right product to penetrate the burgeoning commuter market.
