DOTr plans to put up covered walkway connecting SM North EDSA and TriNoma

It will also be integrated with the upcoming Common Station

Walking is the most basic form of mobility. Yet, it is the most neglected mode of transportation in the Philippines. Here’s a prime example.

TriNoma and SM North EDSA are roughly a kilometer apart. You’d think traveling on foot between the two malls would be a walk in the park, but it is anything but easy as seen in this video.

The Department of Transportation has announced that it will be constructing a covered walkway linking the two malls. In addition to providing safe passage to pedestrians, this walkway will eventually be integrated with the Common Station, which will connect the MRT-3, the LRT-1, and the MRT-7.

Metro Manila still has a long way to go in terms of walkability. But if the government is serious about solving the city’s mobility crisis, it’s important that the DOTr continues to improve active and public transit.
