Sales of hybrid and electric cars are on the rise in the Philippines. And out of all the automakers offering such vehicles, BYD has managed to come out on top. In 2024, it sold 4,780 units—with the firm claiming that it captured 82% of the country’s New Energy Vehicle segment.
BYD’s most popular offering was the Sealion 6 DM-i. Introduced in July last year, 2,669 units of the hybrid crossover were dispatched in just under six months. Its potential range of 1,100km, extensive list of standard equipment, and starting price of P1,548,000 proved to be a winning combination.

Making waves in the BEV segment was the Atto 3. With a range of up to 480km and prices starting at P1,598,000, it gave customers a cost-effective way of getting into EV ownership from a trusted brand. A total of 1,062 units of the Atto 3 were released last year.
The cute and compact Seagull was also one of BYD’s heavy hitters. With retail prices beginning at P1,398,000, this vehicle proved itself as a practical and capable runabout for work commutes and short errands. A total of 411 units rolled off showrooms in 2024.

These figures helped BYD grow by a whopping 8,900% in 2024. Additionally, the brand is now confident in widening its dealer network with 52 new locations approved for 2025. This means more Filipinos will have access to the Chinese firm’s extensive portfolio of hybrid and electric cars.
