The first race of the season was action-packed

The Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup kicked off last weekend (July 13). This is actually the 10th season of this motorsports program (it was formerly known as the Toyota Vios Cup).

One of the biggest changes to this season’s format is the focus more on Sprint and Endurance races, with the removal of the Autocross challenge that would be normally reserved for media and influencers.

But for those from that class who were fast enough in past seasons, they would be participating in the entire season under the new Novice Class. Even more shocking is that TMP president Masando Hashimoto would also be joining the newly promoted racers.

Apart from the races, owners of GR cars (GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR86/GT86) were also allowed to unleash their beasts around the track, and two GR86s burned rubber on the track, drifted around by Hanz Jimenez and Dane Cruz.

Lucky audience members also got the chance to ride shotgun and experience drifting in various GR cars.

Other activities took place, like various stores and sponsors, the TGR GT Cup experience booth, and even a performance by Autotelic.

The next leg of the TGR Philippine Cup will take place on September 28 at Clark International Speedway.

Here the winners of the respective races:
