There is a new GAC GS3 Emzoom variant called R-Style Black Edition

A “black” trim level is usually an automaker’s way of gracefully kicking a model out of its portfolio. But with the current-generation GAC GS3 Emzoom debuting less than two years ago, it’s a car that won’t be saying goodbye anytime soon. In fact, the Chinese crossover is a sales success in the Philippines with 2,500 units dispatched in just over a year following its launch. And now, it gets its own black edition that should make it a hit with customers.

It’s called the GS3 Emzoom R-Style Black Edition. While it’s not the simplest thing to say, the new livery is quite easy on the eye. As the name suggests, black is the dominant theme with dashes of orange accents breaking up the sinister look. But that’s as far as the differences go as the Black Edition is identical to the R-Style in every other respect. It’s actually quite strange that GAC opted to create a new trim level rather than simply add black to the list of available colors for the Emzoom.

We’ve already tested the Emzoom R-Style, so here’s a quick rundown of the features that are worth mentioning. Motivation comes from a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine making 174hp and 270Nm. Drive goes to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The interior is clad in leather, and the 10.25-inch infotainment screen comes with device integration. Some of the electronic driver aids exclusive to the R-Style include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic collision detection.

While the Black Edition retails for P1,289,900, GAC is offering a limited-time discount of P90,000 for all GS3 Emzoom R-Style variants. There is a generous five-year (or 150,000km) warranty, and 24/7 roadside assistance for the first year of ownership. For more information, interested buyers can inquire at any authorized GAC showroom nationwide.
