A total of 242hp sounds good to us

With manufacturers left and right scrambling to bring in electrified models to an ever receptive market, Kia Philippines has just announced that it is now taking orders for the Carnival Turbo HEV. And we really shouldn’t be surprised, because the distributor is ACMobility, which has been introducing EVs and PHEVs through the BYD brand lately.

The Carnival Turbo HEV drivetrain is rated at a combined output of 242hp and 367Nm of torque from a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline hybrid system. The Carnival is front-wheel-drive and uses a six-speed automatic transmission. It also benefits from ventilated rear disc brakes exclusive to the variant for better stopping power and reduced brake fade.

Visually, the Carnival Turbo HEV can be distinguished from the ICE variant by its four-cube LED headlamps and matte-finished 19-inch wheels. It also has active aero flaps for improved aerodynamics.

The Turbo HEV comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a six-speaker sound system, a heads-up display, a digital interior rearview mirror, and a rotary-style shifter. Acoustic paneling helps to reduce road noise, while the heated leather steering wheel keeps your hands toasty on extra-chilly drives.

Hybrid technology enables the Carnival to make good power with just a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine.

The DriveWise suite includes smart cruise control, forward collision-avoidance assist, and 360° cameras. It is equipped with eight airbags, ABS, front/rear/side sensors, stability control, Isofix child seat anchors, and hill-start assist.

The cabin uses a Navy Blue and Misty Gray color scheme, with premium amenities like power-adjustable seats (including the second row) and wireless charging.

The warranty covers five years or 160,000km for the vehicle, five years for the electric motor, and eight years for the battery.

It’s priced at P3,488,000 with availability set to start at all 40 Kia showrooms beginning December 1, 2024.
