There is no doubt that the automotive landscape has undergone many changes in the past decade alone, a key element of which has been a focus on overall efficiency.
Kia Philippines is showcasing a selection of its offerings at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show, exhibiting its diverse selection of powertrains. From the Sonet’s 1.5-liter gasoline engine all the way to the EV9’s battery-electric powertrain—with the Carnival’s turbodiesel and hybrid options, and the Sorento turbo hybrid interspersed in between.

While Kia Philippines does more of, um, the same, its parent company ACMobility has been pushing hard with solutions for electrification. Earlier this year, it launched a membership program that allowed for regular charging station customers to save a little bit more on charging fees.
What charging stations, you may ask? ACMobility is on track to have more than 700 charging points by the end of 2025. A mix of slow and fast AC and DC chargers is scattered across 300-plus locations around the country, powered by the company’s own Evro app for payments and monitoring.

And if it still ends up too inaccessible for some folks, ACMobility also launched its Power-on-Wheels program. It’s weirdly not an emergency powerbank for your car, but rather a mobile charging point you can book ahead of time to charge your EV for when the smattering of charging points is just that much too far to use reliably. Aimed primarily for condominium dwellers, we’re curious just how effective that solution is.
Only time will tell how effective such interventions are in shaping the automotive landscape as a whole. At least, we have more options moving forward, electrified or not.
