At this year’s Manila International Auto Show, GAC Motor Philippines previewed the Emkoo Hybrid with an announced June launch. However, the Chinese brand didn’t reveal any news regarding its unveiling, even during its anticipated month—until a post from GAC Santa Rosa popped up.
Based on the post on August 21, the electrified version of the GAC’s compact crossover will be priced at P1,698,000, P200,000 more than the ICE-powered GL model while sharing the same 10.1-inch infotainment system and 19-inch wheels.
The Emkoo Hybrid packs a more powerful combined output of 235hp and 300Nm, thanks to its 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine mated to a 2.1kWh battery pack. A two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission propels the SUV to achieve up to 22.1km/L.
Despite the price surprise, the memo didn’t include a confirmed launch date. Will this be your next electrified chariot once Astara Philippines finalizes the plans?
