Pasig LGU implements experimental traffic scheme for Santa Monica-Lawton Bridge

No more left turns going in or out of Barangay Kapitolyo

Going to Bonifacio Global City has never been easier thanks to the Santa Monica-Lawton Bridge.

But under the new traffic scheme by the Traffic and Parking Management Office of Pasig City, drivers coming out of Barangay Kapitolyo will no longer be allowed to turn left going to the bridge. Instead, motorists have to pass through Brixton Street.

Previously, motorists could turn left going to the bridge. However, this could get quite messy when you have two lanes of traffic simultaneously trying to turn left at the same intersection—one going out of Kapitolyo, and the other entering Kapitolyo.

It’s no surprise that the ones most irked by this are the residents of Kapitolyo. Not only did the bridge draw more traffic into their barangay, but now they can’t even access it conveniently.

Will this make things better? If you’re hoping that this will improve the flow of traffic, it will probably just redirect the congestion elsewhere.
