If you regularly traverse the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), be prepared to pay more as new toll fees will be implemented starting on June 4. With the new matrix, this is by how much they will increase:

Open System

  • Balintawak-Marilao
    • Class 1: P5
    • Class 2: P14
    • Class 3: P17

Closed System

  • Marilao-Sta. Ines
    • Class 1: P21
    • Class 2: P54
    • Class 3: P65
  • Subic-Tipo
    • Class 1: P2
    • Class 2: P7
    • Class 3: P8

Take note that the Open System has a fixed rate, so motorists going anywhere between Balintawak and Marilao will have to pay the same amount of P74 for Class 1 vehicles, regardless of the distance traveled.

Meanwhile, the Closed System operates on a per-kilometer rate, so you’ll have to pay more the farther you go. This means traveling end-to-end from Balintawak to Sta. Ines (or vice versa) will cost as much as P359 for Class 1 vehicles.

This was approved by the Toll Regulatory Board as part of the second and final tranche of NLEX’s toll-rate adjustments from the company’s 2018 and 2020 consolidated petitions. Increasing the fees in one go would be too burdensome, so it was split into two.
