With fuel cards, so...no corruption (hopefully)

If you’ve been out and about amid the rising fuel costs, surely, you might feel a bit of disturbance in the force. Especially with more commuters on the road, it’s not easy to get a ride from point A to point B.

In Manila City, at least—even before fuel prices began to skyrocket last month—the Manila LGU had already started working on a plan to give free rides under its “Libreng Sakay” initiative following consultations with jeepney groups.

Now, Manila mayor Isko Moreno has received a substantial donation from “a private individual,” with P4.9 million worth of fuel distributed to jeepney drivers who participated in the program. According to a Facebook post, the LGU provided P1,000 worth of fuel to each driver who took part in the effort.

We love driving, but we also commute to work. So, we honestly know the difficulty of taking the daily commute, and we appreciate being informed that the local government is actually doing something good for the people.
