Pierre Gasly to stick with Alpine for 2025 and beyond

The French driver got a multiyear contract extension

While other Formula 1 drivers are anxious over their future in the sport, Pierre Gasly can rest easy as he will remain with Alpine on a multiyear contract extension for 2025 and beyond.

The Frenchman’s time in the Red Bull family was quite the roller-coaster ride. After a short-lived stint with the main team, he was demoted to Toro Rosso within the same season.

He proved his worth by becoming a solid midfield driver and winning the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. Despite that, returning to the top team seemed unlikely, which probably explains his move to Alpine.

“I feel very much at home with this great team,” said Gasly. “I enjoy being a real part of both the Formula 1 project and the wider Alpine Cars vision. I’ve been officially here for over 18 months, and it has always been the plan to build a long-term project with the team. While it’s been a challenging season so far, I remain faithful to the project, and I am not going anywhere.”

With Esteban Ocon leaving Alpine at the end of this season, the question now is: Who will be Gasly’s teammate? While Carlos Sainz is the number-one pick in the driver market, the French team also has the option of promoting its junior and reserve driver Jack Doohan.
