After Adrian Newey‘s bombshell announcement about departing from Red Bull Racing earlier this year, it triggered one heck of a stir on the Internet. Rumors of Newey’s destination team spread like wildfire, with three teams commonly mentioned: Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Williams.
While the second choice would have most likely resulted in the formation of yet another super team (with Ferrari’s recent signing of Lewis Hamilton), the Silverstone-based team had won him over, as Newey will be joining the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 team on March 1, 2025, to work on the 2026 car.
This probably means that we won’t see the Aston Martin team suddenly skyrocket in the standings at the same rate that the Red Bull Racing team is losing ground in the exciting 2024 season.
Ironically, with Honda now supplying Aston Martin’s power units for 2026, as well as the brand-new AMR Technology Campus and wind tunnel facilities, it seems that Newey will be designing another Red Bull F1 car a speed machine that’s similar to that of the team he had worked for since 2006.
Either way, we hope this means Fernando Alonso will get a shot at a third title come 2026.
