It has been more than three years since the fourth-generation Toyota Vios (or Yaris Ativ in Thailand) was unveiled worldwide, and the Philippine market has been waiting for its arrival in the country. Last week, a teaser posted on the Toyota Motor Philippines Facebook page might finally be a sign.
Then, another post today confirms the name to be Toyota Ativ for our market. Following the naming convention of the Zenix, the upcoming subcompact sedan may not outright replace the current Vios, but instead be sold alongside the now 12-year-old platform.
We have to wait until October for the finalized specifications, but TMP is definitely bringing over the HEV model with the 1.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine producing 111hp and which is mated to an eCVT. In the meantime, early reservations are open for those already in the know.
