Alpine reveals sleek and sporty A390 Beta electric sport fastback concept

And it’s headed to production in 2025

French car maker Alpine has just unveiled its A390 Beta electric crossover concept that blends the sleek design of a fastback with the promise of class-leading driving dynamics.

Aimed to rival the likes of BMW’s iX2 and Tesla’s Model Y, this electric five-seater sits on Renault’s AmpR Medium EV platform, and Alpine touts its agility, promising a driving experience reminiscent of the A110 coupe.

Powered by a tri-motor setup with active torque vectoring, it’s set for production in 2025, maintaining an 85% resemblance to this concept version. Alpine’s chief designer, Antony Villain, drew heavily from the radical Alpenglow concept for the A390, and we really hope this car will hit the road looking very much like the concept version seen here.

The car’s inspiration comes from nature, and the shape resembles a drop of water, while snowflakes influenced the design of the wheels.

Those 22- and 23-inch rims have a cabochon gemstone in the middle that lights up when torque vectoring is active. The whole vehicle is painted in Bleu Specular, a rich blue tone that shifts under light, adding visual movement to its striking silhouette.

Aerodynamics take center stage with design features like a shark fin and a rear lightbar that can extend by up to 80mm to give this EV a short and a long tail option similar to what McLaren did with the W1.

The interior also looks suitably futuristic, and includes front bucket seats that can move from an upright into an F1 car-style seating position.

The steering wheel looks equally racing-inspired, and can transform from normal to a more focused version. It also contains an Overtake button that unleashes maximum power when needed. The vehicle is started by placing an ice crystal as the key in the center of the wheel.

Things are a bit more relaxed in the rear, where memory foam-covered bucket seats invite passengers to make themselves comfortable. While features like rear-hinged doors and an extending spoiler likely won’t make it to production, they hint at the brand’s future aesthetic.

Alpine hasn’t yet released details about the A390 Beta’s battery or power output, but the brand isn’t chasing speed records or maximum range. Instead, it is focusing on maintaining lightweight agility, ensuring that the car stays competitive in its class without unnecessary weight.

When it lands in 2025, the A390 will be priced as a premium product, under €100,000 (P6.25 million) but still premium enough to ensure exclusivity.

In essence, Alpine is positioning the A390 Beta as a high-performance, stylish, and innovative crossover, designed to offer a luxurious and immersive driving experience without sacrificing the brand’s focus on agility and fun. If it rolls into showrooms looking only half as good as this concept version, then we’re pretty sure the brand is on to another winner.
