When people say Pasig City, they often recall its rich history. However, in recent years, the city has achieved global recognition for its continuous growth. It acquired a $1 million grant last February from Bloomberg Philanthropies for the 2025-2026 Mayors Challenge for its floating parks, which utilize the Pasig River, furthering the waterway’s rehabilitation and improvement.

More recently, the local government had a turnover ceremony for 10 Toyota Zenix 2.0 Q HEV units during the flag-raising ceremony on July 20. These were allocated to six of its departments. The electrified units are an environmentally conscious decision by the city.

Mayor Vico Sotto clarified in his Facebook post that the Zenix cars were bought for P1,984,684 per unit, including the custom decals, the light tint, and other add-ons. The MPVs were acquired through the eMarketplace of the Department of Budget and Management. The HEVs are part of the second batch of Pasig’s re-fleeting program.

Pasig City is being recognized as the Green City, and the decision to electrify its vehicle fleet demonstrates a commitment to both the community and the surroundings. Instead of getting lavish cars, they’ve focused on useful ones that each office can use while being sustainable.
