BYD, one of the hottest (if not the hottest) Chinese new-energy vehicle brands, drew some of the biggest crowds and the strongest interest at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
The annual auto show once again broke its attendance record with over 180,000 visitors, many of whom came specifically to explore fuel-efficient, new-energy options. In this space, BYD stood out. Its booth—already the largest at the show—was also among the busiest.

BYD displayed a full range of hybrid-electric and battery-electric models. Its BEV lineup included the Seagull, the Atto 3, the eMax 7, and the Tang EV, while its Super DM-i and DMO bestsellers were represented by the Seal 5 DM-i, the Sealion 5 DM-i, the Sealion 6 DM-i, the Tang DM-i, the eMax 9 DM-i, and the Shark 6 DMO.
During its presentation, BYD also introduced popular Filipino actor Alden Richards as the brand’s newest ambassador.

Those interested in getting these vehicles were allowed to try them out in BYD’s test-drive area. Special discounts and offers were also available for those who reserved or bought their BYDs at MIAS.

The show’s main attractions for many visitors, however, were two upcoming models previewed by BYD. The Atto 2 EV subcompact crossover features the “Dragon Face” design, rides on the e-Platform 3.0, uses a 51kWh Blade battery, and delivers 174hp from its electric motor.

The Sealion 7 midsize crossover, meanwhile, is a high-performance SUV with a sleek fastback profile inspired by BYD’s “Ocean X” design language. It offers up to 482km of range from its 82.6kWh Blade battery.

More information about the Atto 2 and the Sealion 7 is available on BYD Philippines’ website. You can sign up here and here.
BYD Philippines also used MIAS as a stage to formally receive two Guinness World Record awards for its “Drive Electric. Love Pinas” drive event, organized with distributor AC Mobility and the Department of Tourism.

The campaign sent various BYD models on a continuous journey across the country, earning records for the most cities visited using a battery-electric vehicle, and the most cities visited using a hybrid-electric vehicle.

Overall, this year’s MIAS highlighted BYD’s rapid growth in the Philippines and its commitment to offering exciting, highly efficient new-energy vehicles to Filipino motorists.
