The bigger and sportier successor to the CS35 Plus

The CS35 Plus is Changan’s subcompact crossover that a colleague once described as “a flawed gem.”  If you like its features but find the looks to be a bit tame, Changan Philippines has something to suit your fancy. Inchcape Philippines launched the Changan CS35 Max during the 2026 Manila International Auto Show.

As you can tell from the name, the CS35 Max is a step up from the CS35 Plus, being the successor to the model that has been around since 2022.

The exterior is characterized by sharper edges and red accents giving it a more aggressive look. However, the differences go beyond aesthetics as the CS35 Max has a wheelbase that’s 115mm longer, which translates to more room inside.

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter BlueCore turbo-gasoline engine, producing 180hp and 300Nm of torque. This is mated to a seven-speed wet-type dual clutch transmission. In addition, the driver has the choice of different driving modes such as Eco, Normal, Sport, Race, and Smart.

In the usual Changan fashion, the CS35 Max is available in two variants. The Lite is the more basic one, while Luxe gets fancier features (larger 12.3-inch digital display, power-adjustable driver seat, rear air vent, panoramic moonroof, and additional safety features). Both variants come with 18-inch wheels and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

The Changan CS35 Max is available in three colors: White, Interstellar Gray, and Black, with the Lite priced at P1,109,999 and the Luxe at P1,199,999.
