The compact crossover EV market in the Philippines is booming, and MG has been cooking up its take on the formula with sleek, performative styling that excites the soul with the new S5 EV. Just from the lighting systems alone, the checkered flag-inspired LED lights hark back to the brand’s sporty heritage.

The car’s modern design, crafted by Jozef Kabaň, emphasizes aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.27. Additionally, the 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted with stylish aero fins that enhance airflow for efficiency.

The new MG S5 utilizes a 49kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack mounted on the floor, powering the rear permanent-magnet synchronous motor and wheels with 168hp and 250Nm of torque at its disposal. You can commandeer the way you drive with five different modes: normal, sport, comfort, snow (still useful depending on the road condition), and custom.

Charging from 20% to full takes 8.5 hours with AC, or up to 24 minutes with DC, reaching a maximum range of 415km (NEDC). The S5 EV also comes with vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities for any out-of-home or out-of-town applications.

Inside, the modernly appointed interior features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment system, both providing crystal-clear displays and seamless phone connectivity. Trunk space is no issue as you have 453L to play with, and 1,441L with the rear seat folded.

The S5 EV comes standard with MG Pilot, the brand’s advanced driving-assistance system. Your surroundings are fully covered thanks to front and rear collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert and braking. Additionally, a variety of lane and driving assists ensure that expressway driving is as effortless and comfortable as possible.

The MG S5 EV is an appealing electric SUV for urban explorers, priced at just P1,448,888—making it a great deal. To sweeten the deal, MG Motor Philippines is slashing P40,000 during its launch period, bringing it down to P1,408,888.

However, you can still squeeze in for even more discounts during the “Multiply Greatness Tour.” By reserving the S5 EV on-site—as with any other model—with a minimum reservation fee of P1,000, you will receive P10,000 off the introductory price.

That means the final price you can avail is P1,398,888, with charger freebies: a 7kW wall charger and a 3.5kW portable charger. There’s no better time to go electric than today, especially with what MG is currently offering. The S5 EV is the suitable candidate for taking that plunge.
