Amid the ongoing fuel crisis, many consumers are embracing electrified vehicles. Some opt for hybrids, while others commit to fully battery-electric models.
Recently, there have been many electrified options that are packed with gizmos, but still budget-friendly. There are those, though, who look for an electrified vehicle that offers good performance and great styling on top of all the bells and whistles. And for this, BYD Cars Philippines might just have the solution.
The Sealion 7 is the latest of BYD’s line of BEVs. Allow us to explain why.
Measuring 4,830mm long, 1,925mm wide, and 1,620mm high in a sleek fastback package, it is one head-turning crossover. It is both sporty and sleek, with a neat but aggressive-looking front end complete with all-LED exterior lighting.
The sides look both sleek and tough with soft and sultry character lines, a sloping roof line, and hidden door handles. The car also comes with rugged black plastic over-fenders and body cladding. Rounding out the profile are stylish 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
At the back is a lightbar that spans the entire width of the vehicle, complete with spoilers on the roof and the trunk lid.
The four exterior colors are Shark Gray (hero color), Aurora White, Deep Sea Blue, and Cosmos Black.

The interior is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of gridlocked metro streets. Behind the tiller is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Front and center is a 15.6-inch infotainment screen that rotates in classic BYD fashion.
This display controls the 12-speaker Dynaudio system, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Speaking of control, you can perform various tasks when you summon BYD’s voice assistant feature by saying, “Hi, BYD.”
The choice of materials is top-notch, like the leather that wraps the seats. The seats in front are power-adjustable (eight-way for the driver, and six-way for the passenger), and the driver seat is ventilated with memory functions.
The interior is a great place to be with dynamic ambient lighting and a huge panoramic glass roof, perfect for stargazing at night. It is also one of the safest vehicles you can buy today as it comes with an extensive list of passive and active safety features, including BYD’s DiPilot suite of advanced driver-assist systems.
The list includes eight airbags; traction control system; hill-start, hill-hold, and hill-descent controls; a 360°-view camera with see-through mode; adaptive cruise control; forward- and rear-collision warning; front and rear cross-traffic alert; and automatic emergency braking.

Propulsion is courtesy of front and rear electric motors. Combined, these make a total of 523hp (530ps) and 690Nm of torque, allowing the car to sprint from rest to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds—making it one of the more exciting BEVs in the market today.
The Sealion 7 gets juice from an 82.6kWh Blade Battery pack, which is good for up to 542km of driving range. Charging from 15% to 100% takes up to 16 hours with an 11kW AC charger, while a 150kW DC charger can juice the batteries from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
The EV has a portable charging cable and a wall-mounted charger. Also, there is a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter, allowing your crossover to be a mobile power source for appliances up to 3.3kW when outdoors or during emergencies.
The best thing about owning a BEV is the low cost of ownership. With the Sealion 7, you’d only need periodic maintenance services: It offers you up to 63% savings versus gasoline-fed ICE-only vehicles, and up to 74% savings versus diesel-fed vehicles.
The fuel crisis we’re experiencing today may end, but there’s no denying the fact that electrified (new energy) vehicles are the future. So, if you are looking for an all-electric crossover that offers electrifying performance, the Sealion 7 might be the car for you.
